Here are some things about Miss Megan that warm my heart or just get me hot under the collar.
1. I love the way she says Octagon. She learned that word from her shape sorter and just the sound of it makes me laugh. She says, “Ockaggon!” and is so proud of herself.
2. Megan gets me plates and bowls and helps out with her meal prep almost every meal. She knows that if she’s going to have a pear, she needs a bowl. Or if she’s going to have milk, she gets a cup. But her favorite is the “dwah” (straw) for yogurt smoothies.
3. On the same note, I love the way she helps me put the dishes away from the dishwasher. She will stand between me and the cabinet and hand me dish after dish.
4. Megan is a clean freak like most toddlers at this age, she loves to clean floors and other surfaces with the entire contents of my napkin holder or half the roll of toilet paper. (Gah!!)
5. It makes me laugh how she will look at the sun rays high up on the wall and shout “Moon!” Even after I tell her she’s silly and that it’s a sunshine ray, she shouts “Moon Shine!”
6. When we get ready to leave our home, Megan helps me prepare for departure. She loads up my bag with her sippy, the box of crackers, a napkin and sometimes her Elmo doll.
7. I love to hear her sing in the back of the car. She has such a sweet little voice that it melts my heart. If I look at her and smile while she’s singing, she’ll immediately stop and look away with an embarrassed smile.
8. I love how she reads me stories and makes up her own from the pictures. Currently her favorite book is Noodles From Scratch. She loves to tell me how the noodles are made and then eaten, “Allll Gone Ni ni!!”
9. While I change her diaper, Megan likes to read. Her favorite book is a little 4x6 photo album that my friend never completed from me and contains one photo of ME. Megan loves to read the “Mama Book” and gives the photo a big kiss every time.
10. I love that she sits at her table and colors with crayons in her coloring book all without my asking her to. Sometimes she’ll make scribbles and tell me what she drew. Usually it’s a letter like “O”, “P” or “D”.
11. When I put Megan down for naps, I love the little routine we have. I give her hugs and kisses and sing her a quick song. Then she gets in and lays down. I tuck her in with with her blankie and Elmo. Then she says “Shhh shhh shhhh….Ni ni!...I love you “ (her version) as I’m walking out she says, “BYE!” and giggles. Then she puts on her aquarium soother and goes to sleep.
12. She loves to play “hide and seek”. But in her version, hiding halfway behind a wall or door constitutes hiding. Too funny! Sometimes she’ll hide in the kitchen cabinet and say, “Knock knock knock!” from the inside.
