Long Weekend

Megan and I took a few days to visit with my parents this weekend. She did wonderfully on the 4.5 hour ride and really just slept most of the way. Her grandparents were just thrilled to pieces and much spoiling ensued. Mommy even benefited a little from this trip. She had a baby sitter so she could get her hair, nails and toes done. Ahhhhh!

The weekend was a bevy of social engagements. First we met up with Matthew to tear up Pottery Barn Kids. He is such a sweet and affectionate baby!

We then met up with a few other little friends in a beautiful setting.

A Whole New World

The weather is becoming progressively warmer and we're finding better days to go out to the park, walk through our neighborhood or just play in our yard. Megan gets all excited to go "buh buh bye". This weekend she got some new shoes to play outside in. I just need to remember to stretch before I got out because this little one has short but fast legs! Here are some pics of her "adventures".

Our Sunday Tradition

I've been meaning to post this recipe for my yummy blueberry pancakes, but I keep forgetting. It's our Sunday morning tradition to have pancakes and eat as a family since the rest of the week we all eat pretty much separately. Megan loves these, so I make extra and freeze them for during the week. These can be made with other fruit, but blueberry is our favorite!

Yummy Blueberry Pancakes

1 1/2 c. of flour (I use 1 c. of whole wheat and 1/2 of regular)
1-2 T. of sugar (to your taste)
4 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 egg
4 T. butter, melted
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1 1/4 c. of milk
3/4 c. blueberries (fresh or frozen)

In a batter bowl, mix wet ingredients. Add dry ingredients and mix just until combined. Add a little more milk if batter is too thick. Pour by 1/3 cup fulls onto a heated and greased skillet. Turn over when edges become dry and/or begin to bubble. Cook for 2-3 minutes more.

Variations: Add brown sugar instead of white. Add 1 mashed banana. Or add 1 chopped apple and 1 tsp. cinnamon.

Landscaping Fun

Ok, well, not so fun. But it looks so much better! Hubby and I spent the whole day on Saturday cleaning up our front beds and making it look better. There is some sort of stone edging in this bed's future. Any suggestions?

Teething Update

One tooth has finally broken through! Megan finally slept through the night last night. But there are 5 (yes, FIVE) more teeth right behind it! Gah! I may never catch a break.

New Teeth and other stuff

They're coming!! Finally, after months of waiting we're finally getting a 3rd tooth! It's the top front left tooth if you're looking at her. And I can see the others around it just below the gum line, not broken through yet, but almost there!

In other news, Megan continues to be a little smarty pants. The past few weeks a bunch of new little tricks have popped up. She says "cheese" and "keys" and I can tell the difference! She also says "wow!" now. My little parrot. She taught herself the sign for "eat". When she is hungry, she will put her hand to her mouth and then point to the kitchen. When I ask if if she's hungry and wants to eat, she will yell out and race me to the kitchen. She's pretty fast too!

The amount of things she understands is just amazing. She brought Daddy a hat tonight and when he asked her what it was, she put it on her head. If I say, let's brush your hair, she digs through her diaper basket for her brush and tries to brush her hair. She can do monkey sounds and loves to imitate her baby doll's coos. There are so many more things that I can't think of right now, but I will update as I remember.
