10 Things I Love About My 17 Month Old

1. I love that she loves to twirl, get dizzy and collapse in a fit of giggles. I love seeing her so happy and free.

2. I love that the Babies on the Bus go “up dan dow”. And how she sings along to songs that inspire her to sing.

3. I love her hearty little laugh. She has such a fun personality and sense of humor.

4. I love she makes her Daddy play BING with her every morning! BING is a Daddy Bungee Ride. When Daddy whispers in Megan’s ear “What time is it?”, Megan responds, in a whisper, “Bing!”

5. I love when she plays This Little Piggy with her doll’s feet. Especially the last part where she says “wee wee wee” and kisses her toes.

6. I love how concerned she gets when she hears other little kids cry. She will tell me in a concerned voice that the baby is crying. (in her own language). I tell her it’s ok, but she still looks worried for awhile.

7. I love how when I try new shoes on her feet, she does the “Happy Feet” dance.

8. I love how she “feeds” things to her Babies and any other stuffed animal around. She uses cups and utensils to feed fake food and water to them. The best thing is the sound effects! She makes a “clucking” sound with her tongue and says “nyum, nyum, nyum!”

9. I love when we are riding in the car and she gets excited that her songs are on. Before they are even over, I hear “More! More!”

10. I love the stories you she been telling me lately. Sometimes I don’t get the entire story, but her expressions are so sincere and she really believes whatever it is she’s telling me.

11. I love that when she sees swings at the park she screams out Wheeeeeee!!! And that she always tries to make friends with the other little kids at the playground.

Dancing Queen

Here's our little Dancing Queen dancing to her duck (who sings the chicken dance, lol!) Daddy and I just love to watch her twirl and then laugh and fall because she's all dizzy.

The Baby In The Mirror

Like any other toddler, Megan loves to look at herself in the mirror. On longer rides I give Megan the mirror that used to hang on the back headrest when she was rear facing. Now that she is forward facing, it doesn't fit on the front headrest, so I use it as entertainment.

That baby in the mirror elicits conversations, giggles and many kisses from Megan. It's the cutest thing to hear "hee hee hee" from the backseat, followed by tons of "muah muah muah muah!" kisses. That baby in the mirror sure is cute!!

Thoughts for Thursday

I'm not sure what the rush is to get from one season/holiday to the next. I'm tired of seeing Christmas items in July and Halloween in June. Some stores already have their Halloween costumes out. I'm not quite done with summer. Whatever happened to just enjoying the sunshine and lazy days? Whatever happened to swimming lessons and catching butterflies? I remember chasing the ice cream truck, eating popsicles, riding bikes, making forts and trips to the lake and beach. Do people even do that stuff any more? It doesn't seem like it. It seems like they are out there putting up the Fall displays and buying Halloween costumes early.

Don't get me wrong, Fall is by far my favorite season. But why couldn't we have the pace we did when I was a kid?

Our Little Chatterbox

Megan is developing quite the vocabulary. Almost every day she will say something new. Here are the words (at least the majority of them) that she can say right now. Sometimes she mispronounces them, but usually we can understand her through context. Thanks to Cindy for this idea.

Playdate at The Jungle!

We had a playdate at the indoor play place in our area with our good friend Michael. The babies jumped around in the ball pit and climbed all over the slides and through tunnels. They had such a blast and, as you can see, tired themselves out. We went to the Cheesecake Factory afterwards. Yummm!
