7 Months Old!

It's going faster now. The months are whizzing by. It seems as if they are picking up momentum. It seems as if Megan is picking up momentum. My little munchkin does something new and wonderful every day. She can smack her lips on cue, she says dadada and bababa and even mamama when she's fussing. Her new favorite thing to do is say Ha Ha Ha! I think her Dada taught her that one. She never used to flip out when the garage door opened and closed, but I guess she finally woke up and noticed that sound. And it makes a big sound. Hence, the incredulous eyes. And the kicking. Everything she hears and sees lately makes her kick. It's adorable. But only when I don't need to get her diaper or pants on. And "no" just makes her laugh. No Megan! Hee hee, funny Mommy, I'm going to chew the cords anyway...

She is also showing strength. She can pull her entire diaper changing basket to her and take everything out of it. And, although she can't pull her self up to sitting (but we're so close!), she can pull me down from a sitting position. Or pull my pants down on one leg. I have visions of Megan at my feet with her arms wrapped around my leg, wanting me to pick her up.... And crawling. We're almost there! She can "army crawl" just about everywhere, but the whole hand and knees crawling thing is reserved for rocking. Silly girl.

Anyway, 7 Months. Yes. Here she is, her Royal Cuteness...

It's MY Turn!!

Megan thinks my laptop is the best toy ever. The cords are chewable and she found that if she hits the keyboard repeatedly, all sorts of lights flash and pictures move. She especially loves to sit on my lap and look at pictures of herself or other babies. It's no wonder I get "kicked off" my laptop. Note to self: Buy Megan baby laptop for Christmas...

Pumpkin Patch - Take 2

We went to a different pumpkin patch yesterday in hopes of getting pics where Megan would actually look at the camera. Thankfully she was more cooperative. Of course it helps that there wasn't any hay, grass or leaves to distract her. We didn't take the hay ride this time. It was a 15 minute ride and it was packed with screaming kids. No fun for either of us. Here are the results.

New Banner

I'm trying to learn how to scrap digitally. I really wanted to do a baby book for Megan, but a paper one just isn't working out for me. So, I'm giving digital a shot. Hopefully I can remember all her milestones up to now. Luckily, I'm big on taking tons of pictures, so not a week has gone by where I didn't take a picture of Megan for one reason or another (most reasons involved cuteness).

Here is another blog banner attempt. It is actually my first attempt ever. The previously posted one was my 2nd attempt. Look for this to be changing soon. I'm a downloading fiend and have started looking for an external drive to store all of my digital "supplies". Isn't obsession great?

She's Got Mail

So this is what happens when I let Megan open her own mail.

Colder Nights Make Colder Mornings

The night are getting colder here and that means that the mornings are getting a little more chilly. We haven't put on the heat yet, so I bundled Megan up in this little hoodie outfit. She loved wearing the hoodie. She kept pulling it over her eyes and pushing it up in her own little game of peek-a-boo. So cute.

The Pumpkin Patch - Take 1

We took Megan pumpkin picking today. It was a beautiful sunny day and she enjoyed looking at the farm animals. There was a hayride to get to the pumpkin patch which Megan really liked. But when we put Megan down to play with the pumpkins, she was so interested in the leaves and stems that neither me or her Daddy could get her to look at the camera. Soooo, good pics at the pumpkin patch were a bust. I guess we'll just have to go back another day soon!

Playdate

Megan had her first playdate with her friend Rebecca this morning. She was so happy to share her toys with another baby! Rebecca and Megan were born 4 days apart in the same hospital. They raced down the hallway in their rolling baby cradles! Good times...

"Do they make you eat that puree stuff too??"

"I like my friend. She is nice!"

6 Month Stats

We went to the pediatrician yesterday for our 6-month visit. I think Megan will be one of those kids who hates going to the doctor's office. Of course, it would help if she didn't get painful shots every time she was in that office. I think having to be stripped down to her diaper has something to do with it. As soon as I put her down on the table she started to scream. I had to play pattycake and other games to calm her down and distract her. Soon she was laughing and rolling around on the table. But when she turned over she discoved the joys of the paper liner. The liner never had a chance. It was ripped to shreds!

When the doctor came in to check Megan (a loooong 20 minutes later!) she was on all fours and rocking away. The doc was impressed. She even told me that not may 6-month olds even show an inkling of wanting to crawl at this point. Of course, she's probably just saying that to make me feel good, but hey, I'll take it! At one point the doctor was talking to me and I think Megan did not like what she said because she basically yelled at the doctor. The doctor laughed and said that Megan had such a great personality. We like to think so too!

Here are Megan's Six-month stats:
Weight: 18 lbs 1 oz. (75th to 90th percentile)
Height: 26 inches (50th percentile)
Head Circumfrence: 16.3 inches (25th percentile)

She got four shots and cried through them all. The fourth one was a 1/2 flu shot. She'll get the other 1/2 in four weeks. Oh joy.

Was It Something I Said?

You have just witnessed Megan's first conversation. She had a lot to say! In fact, she had a lot to say the rest of the day too.

Chockylit!

I just made these because I've been craving brownies for weeks. It's been so hot here, but today I finally gave in, cranked up the air and baked them. They are so good and if you leave them in the oven a minute or two longer, they become chewy. Decadent!!

Easy Brownie Recipe
4 Tablespoons of cocoa
1 cup butter
2 cups sugar
3 eggs beaten
1 tsp. vanilla
1 cup all-purpose flour
¼ tsp. salt

MELT BUTTER, AND COCOA LOW HEAT.
ADD SUGAR, EGG, VANILLA MIX.
SIFT FLOUR, AND SALT ADD GRADUALLY MIXING WELL.
POUR INTO A GREASED AND FLOURED 9 INCH PAN.
BAKE 350 45-50 MINUTES COOL BEFORE CUTTING.

Megan, Meet Pumpkin

Grandma sent Megan a pumpkin. In the mail. I think she thinks we live on a different planet incapable of growing pumpkins. Or that I cannot find the pumpkin patch. Either way, it was quite surprising to find this little gem nestled among other wrapped gifts for Miss Megan. She took to the pumpkin immediately. And every day she stares at it as it sits on our entry way table. I may bake it. I hear babies love pumpkin puree. Pumpkin's days are numbered....
